Hello dear readers- I have returned - albeit for as long as my schedule allows, after a long hiatus. I have noticed my list of subscribers has grown - and I feel I owe it to them to generate a good post from time to time.

Hopefully everyone is enjoying the nice weather - we certainly had a better spring up here in the Northeast than last spring / early summer with all that rain. Here's wishing for a great summer!

Anyway, today's topic is a practical guide to meeting a spanking partner. It's my hope that those reading may also post their thoughts / experiences with respect to finding that special top or bottom.

For many, this list may seem fundamental, but for all intents and purposes people, finding a person who shares this interest does not obviate the basics when it comes to general etiquette and communication skills.

Be polite - people into spanking are not devoid of feelings and general wants and needs.
Don't be presumptuous - just because someone shares this interest, does not necessarily a match make.

When posting an on-line profile:

Share some general interests about yourself. The spanking world is a wonderful one, but when a delightful bottom or heavy hand is attached to an interesting person - it makes the whole interaction far more exciting and meaningful.
Don't oversell yourself. People are generally distrustful of folks who sell them hard-- be direct enough to get your point across (assertiveness is good) but not too pushy to look like a brute.
Have a "recent" picture available. Come on people, it's 2010-- if you don't have a picture - you're either hiding something or not very serious about your interests. (Note: discretion is understandable for some people, so be patient with those who may be apprehensive to send out pictures with steamy e-mails until a level of trust has been established.)
Do NOT assume because a person wants a spanking they are seeking to be a slave, slut or have low self esteem. It's certainly true enough that spanking is part of our sexuality, but express your limits / expectations with all of this.
Be HONEST about your intent. There are a TON of time wasters and wankers on-line- and it's OK to be curious, but do not mislead.
Network and discuss your interests with others who share in this interest.
Be creative - for many the spanking experience is equals parts emotional / physical. In my experience females migrate to gentleman who are well directed, have a good vocabulary (communication is a MUST) and understand the emotional bond that comes with discipline. To spank or not to spank?

Hello Dear Readers and a wonderful spring Saturday morning to you all!

Watching things closely economically speaking, and believe America is getting a much overdue spanking for it's financial imprudence over the last decade. Hopefully, we can set ourselves straight and recover after this correction, although I'm cautious given the way our Congress and politicians seem to be complicating the mess.

Anyway-- on to our favorite topic - SPANKING! Some of you may have touched on this subject and questioned whether spanking was for your relationship? Is it normal for adult couples to consider such activities? Does engaging in such activities constitute a desire/interest for abusive activities? Would my neighbors approve? How will I know it's right for me?

The answer to these questions are largely subjective - and while we're all wired a bit differently, many of us do find a form of juvenile excitement in spanking a bare behind. Our interests are largely predicated on our level of intent.

For some, spanking is strictly an erotic activity; a playful spank perhaps to get the juices flowing before lovemaking. For them a person who is open to this activity, but not over the top with it, will suffice.

Christian Domestic Discipline

I found this site recently and actually enjoyed the more traditional view of Christian marriage.

Here is a brief introduction that seems to mesh well with the concept of Domestic Discipline.

Evening dear readers-- the fall is here and the holidays are soon to follow. Lots of bad economic news lately and while Wall Street and the big banks bear a good portion of the blame, the profligate US consumer could benefit from a good trip over a knee as well.

Afternoon dear readers- with summer 2008 now in the rear view mirror, I'm finally getting a chance to settle back in and update the blog. Hope everyone had an enjoyable summer-- I know I did.

Over the years, I have been queried by other folks about how to introduce spanking / domestic discipline into their relationship. Quick disclaimer-- I'm no counsellor, but I can share with others what I have found to work well and offer interested parties (the key word here being interested) a chance to incorporate domestic discipline into a healthy functioning relationship.

A special note should be added here. If you're an abusive person by nature, and see spanking as a way to dominate someone and only fulfill your needs, this blog -- and any insight shared here, will likely not suit your taste buds. Similarly, if you've got anger management problems and view violence as a means to achieve any goals, you're advised to abstain from domestic discipline altogether. Stated simply, domestic discipline is NOT about violence or abuse as can be often misconstrued by bullies, the close minded or the uninformed.

So what benefit could domestic discipline-- chiefly bare bottom spanking, offer your relationship? Summertime-- thoughts of spanking abound!

Good afternoon dear readers -- hope you're all enjoying the summertime months-- I know I am. Have been busy with work but also got a chance to take some time off and enjoy some of this warm weather.

Summertime in New England is a great time of year. It means great beaches, picnics, outdoor activities, barbecues, water sports (not that kind), fireworks, iced cold lemonade and annual visits to quaint seaside villages nestled along the shore. It's definitely my favorite time of year.

According to researchers, Frequent spanking and corporal punishment have been shown to lead to:

- Increased probability of coercing a dating partner to have sex
- Risky sex (not using protection)
- Masochistic sex

In fairness, this study was a longitudinal study of adults who were spanked as children. Risky sex? Which comes first - the chicken or the egg? Do people who enjoy spanking engage in risky sex or do folks who enjoy risky sex engage in spanking? This reasoning is circular and is meant to draw correlation between the two. Because folks who enjoy risky sex may not enjoy spanking (and vice versa), this relationship is casual, not causal. And is any sex risky provided the partners are monogamous? Again, we're brushing in broad strokes here.

Masochistic sex? Because the world of BDSM is so broadly diverse, the warped conclusion that masochistic sex and spanking are somehow related more than adequately demonstrates to me that the authors don't understand the first thing about either activity-- nor would they try to. It seems easier to demonize both.

What's becoming alarmingly apparent is the continued assault on civil liberties, and freedom of expression and to make individual choices (in the privacy of our homes) in America. Psychology is ironically a field that thrives on diversity, yet those same academics seek to marginalize and label many human behaviors as right and wrong with asymetric studies to prove their warped points.

I was motivated to blog about spanking to allow couples of all likes and persuasions, to safely explore and experiment with domestic disciplinary activities within the framework of an otherwise healthy relationship/friendship.

Recently a visitor posted a comment in my cbox that made me gave me moment to pause and think about what spanking means to others.

He wrote:

"It is important to spank your wife or girlfriend. How else can you teach them to do what they are told?"

While it is certainly true enough that spanking can be incorporated into a relationship for disciplinary reasons or perhaps those seeking guidance feel a sense of mental captivity from such disciplinary consequences, it should not be used as a tool to force feed a draconian household law. Furthermore, when attempting to introduce a reluctant (curious) partner to the joys and intimate bond of bare bottom spanking, such a philosophy may send her running in the opposite direction.

Most females I have encountered over the years- including past girlfriends, were lovable, very enjoyable, fully functioning women-- who in spite of their need for domestic punishments, did not seek continual reprimand to be taught or told what to do. Rather they enjoyed the intimacy, and unique bond that such activities create and entrust that their mate is doing what is in their better interest, and not necessarily as a tool for self gratification. Evening dear readers. The Spencer Discipline Plan...

The Spencer Discipline Plan - as it came to be known, indicated:

Study finds: Spankos are happier!

A study conducted in Australia - results released April of 2007, indicates that men who spank and enjoy related activities may be healthier and happier than those men who don't.

In fact, according to researchers these activities are probably largely under-reported (for fear of being perceived different) and represent only a fraction of the true spanking fans down under.

The study further reveals; "People who engaged in the habit were more likely to be sexually adventurous in other ways, like trying anal sex and phone sex, looking at internet pornography or using sex toys." Hmmm..... Sexually adventurous? Sex toys?? Not us! :-)

In a "CRUSHING" blow to the anti-spanking camp-- these same spankos "were no more likely to have suffered sexual difficulties, sexual abuse or coercion or anxiety than other Australians".

More highlights:

Amazing! When one is allowed freedom of expression without the intrusion of nosey gov't, preaching health care agencies and their over-analytical disciples, and gestapo state agencies spying in our windows late at night, we're happier! What a novel find!

Not surprisingly, this legitimate article didn't make headline Health News here in the US, likely because it puts a more constructive face on the spanking (fetish) community and makes the anti-spanking movement seem all that much more misguided. Truth cuts both ways I suppose. In any event, the silence is deafening.

Is Spanking the same as BDSM?

Whether one considers spanking a subset of the more diverse world of BDSM (Bondage, Discipline, Sadism, Masochism) is a question of personal preference. In my humble opinion, this is a very slippery slope.
When crafting the "Bare Bottom Spanking Blog" I wanted to reach people who are more fixated on spanking (and the posterior as the object of desire/punishment thru spankings, rectal temps, butt plugs, etc.) without relating to the broader spectrum of BDSM. In short, this blog caters to the subset of individuals who reject the broader label of BDSM because spanking is an activity in and of itself, and does not necessarily constitute any interest in the broader range of S&M activities.

Wikipedia indicates that (it is estimated) "approximately 40 million adults consider spanking to be an essential part of their lives. Activities range from occasional sensual interplay to domestic discipline and may or may not include a variety of implements."

This likely puts spanking as one of the most experimented sexual kinks on the planet PROBABLY because it is perceived as more benign in nature than some of the harder aspects of S&M (history appears dotted with a multi-cultural following of spanking/flogging as an acceptable form of punishment in contrast to other forms of S&M play). It also probably indicates there is a deep seated obsession with bare behinds whether for punishment or sexual gratification purposes in our society! ;-)

Whatever you view, to categorize spanking as a subset of a much larger BDSM world steals from its identity and offers a vague picture of the uniqueness of the activity and its colorful (pardon the pun) following. Important Note: Those newbies who are interested in experiencing a first time spanking, would do well to stay clear of those who do not understand the distinction between BDSM activities and spanking as a unique activity all by itself!

The Art of Slippering!

Like all spankers, over the years I have developed a certain fondness for specific spanking implements. One of my favorite spanking instruments seems to receive only novel attention in today's (US) spanking scene-- the slipper!

Growing up in the 60's and 70's, the dreaded slipper (often referred to as a plimsoll) was a tried and true method of correcting misdirected youths in England and was even frequently applied to the backsides of naughty boys and girls in academic settings. While such practices may exist infrequently today, many of the girls that I have dated over the years, have made reference to the 'sapata' (meaning shoe or slipper) while over a parent's corrective knee when they were younger.

Afternoon dear readers! While surfing the web recently, I came across a few spanking games on-line I felt a few of my readers might appreciate. Three in particular were quite fun.

My personal favorite was Secretary - modeled after a UK based movie about a law firm seeking a secretary who "is open to a hands on disciplinary approach". The website game is actually very clever. When clicking on the pictured link to the right, you will be redirected to the page where you can launch the game. Once the game is launched, hit 'click here to begin', and start typing away. Note to those who revel in the delicious sounds of spanking-- turn your speakers on! I'll admit I had a difficult time concentrating on work after finding this little game! Is Adult Spanking Humiliation?

I have queried a number of women in recent years-- whether consciously or thru subliminal thoughts, as to whether they believe consentual adult spanking is the same as humiliation and hence demonstrates a disregard for a person's feelings?

The Art of Figging!

Figging is a form of anal disipline. Ladies, you may wish to safely administer an enema in privacy, or incorporate it into your bare bottom discipline regimen. I'd like to query a few dear readers on their thoughts about incorporating mouth soaping into the domestic discipline arena.

Personally, I have very little experience with mouthsoaping, but will admit the temptation to wash a naughty girls mouth out with soap sounds enjoyable--- particularly if she is over my knee getting her bare behind soundly hand spanked as the suds form around her lips as she holds the bar in place.

I have done a bit of research and have found that Wright's Coal Tar soap seems to have both antiseptic properties and has a reasonably pleasant taste. Obviously the goal is to wash the 'potty mouth' out allowing a naughty girl to spit out the suds in between spankings. Ideally to provide a good / fast and furious hand spanking and then to have a naughty girl positioned in the corner, or over a few pillows on the bed with her red cheeks on display and a fresh bar of soap in her mouth (perhaps even a thermometer in her butt for good measure?).

Q: Thanks for the vote of confidence, in recent years there have been a number of very good spanking blogs that have cropped up on the internet. Erin, how old are you? Tell us about your interest in spanking; when did you first learn spanking appealed to you?

A: I'm 23. Spanking has always been a part of my fantasy life I guess since I was about four or five. Pretty darn early, I know. Either alone or with girlfriends I'd make up elaborate fantasy stories that involved getting spanked. Spanking Chemistry: Older gentleman - Younger women...

As a spanker for a number of years, I have come across a good percentage of females who seem to enjoy going over the lap of a distinguished older gentleman and relish in the age disparity.

As of this writing I'm not sure I qualify for "older, distinguished" but I've had my motor vehicle license for more than a few decades so I guess I'm somewhere in the middle. I am however, a gentleman! :-)

I've always been fascinated by the age differentials associated with spanking and the unique aura it seems to create with respect to a spanking session. Spanking: More psychological than physical?

Few people who are involved in the spanking world would argue the intimate bond that a spanking relationship (or a relationship which incorporates spanking) can create.

Spanking touches many of our deepest emotional needs-- including trust, friendship, the sharing of deep personal feelings (whether they be goals or perceived shortcomings), and respect on both sides of the paddle.

In addition to the obvious consideration of 'safely' providing a commensurate form of discipline, the spanker must work to balance a good nature with an equally firm resolve. Thru day-to-day discussions and otherwise vanilla interaction, a sincere understanding of how/when and how frequently to spank can be achieved. In brief, learning about your partner, can serve to lower inhibitions and allow for a deeper emotional bond and a more fulfilling, natural spanking experience.

I have heard it said that spanking is 75% emotional and 25% physical. Where it pertains to a spanking that produces tears, this is never more accurate. One particular spanking experience stands out in my head, which re-enforces this thought with me. She was a 24 year old, recently graduated college co-ed who seemed to know exactly how to elicit such emotions even early on in a friendship. We engaged in deep discussions and did not "play" right out of the blocks, but she seemed to be very in tune with generating an emotional response, and was also quite aware of my deep concern for her safety (an admitted habit of mine). Drop Seat Pajamas! A blast from the past…

Spanking Safety: Guidelines to meeting others...

Anyone who grew up before the age of the Internet can certainly remember how limited their ability was to meet people into alternate lifestyles like spanking. The Internet has changed the face of how we interact with others, and how we explore the many diversities of human sexuality. It is a wonderful place that has enabled millions of folks to anonymously explore their unconventional interests in the privacy of their own homes. In turn, it has helped many understand they are not alone in their desires-- and it offers us a chance to learn more and foster friendships with like minded folks.

As a natural progression to your online experience, you may at some point consider a real time meeting with someone who shares your interest. A face to face meeting is a logical first step in exploring your interests (provided real time intent is there). Here are a few safety tips I always adhere to when meeting. Input is encouraged, so if I leave anything out, please feel free to post in the comments section for all to see. These comments are posted for ADULTS only, as a flexible set of guidelines for meeting others in the spanking world.

Rule #1: Take a brief period, to get to know a bit about each other thru e-mail correspondence and chat. Discuss your interests, expectations/limitations with all of this and what you are seeking. Share photos -- DON'T misrepresent yourself (age, appearance, etc.) or your level of experience on EITHER side of the paddle! (BTW, anyone who says they don't have a digital picture in 2007, probably isn't serious about meeting).

Rule #2: Chat on the phone. Rectal Temperature taking is a hit with spankos. Speaking personally, I enjoy it immensely and over the years, have incorporated it into countless 'over the knee' episodes. The vast percentage of women I have known who enjoy spanking, also seem to enjoy a level of anal play- although perhaps shared on a bit less casual level due to the sexual overtones. To this extent, the rectal thermometer may allow a woman to explore this wonderfully erogenous area, without the pain and discomfort that bigger items may bring- or at least to start small and work your way up (pardon the pun).

Lift the leg until the bottom of the foot is pointing toward the ceiling and the leg is lined up with the body. Repeat on the same side for eight to 12 reps. Change legs.

Step-Ups: Stand with good posture behind a tall step or box [or stabilized weight bench] while holding a dumbbell in each hand. It is my personal recommendation to start with light weight or no weight in the beginning to achieve the best form. Place your left foot on the box/bench transferring your weight to that leg. Push down with your left foot (especially the heel), straightening your leg, to come up on top of the box. Use the left leg only; keep the right leg passive, especially as you initiate the step-up. Repeat on the same side for eight to 12 reps. Change legs. (Note: three sets like this, is a great cardio workout!)

Lunges: Hold a dumbbell in each hand, standing tall with good posture. Step forward with the right foot, keeping the head up and spine neutral. Drop your left knee toward the floor by bending knees, making sure to keep the front heel down and the knee directly over the center of the foot. Push down and forward through your heel to return to the starting position. Repeat on the other side, alternating for eight to 12 reps per side.

Recently I came across an article on scent fetish and how some men are incredibly turned on by the scent of their girlfriends private places—including their bottoms. Now before you go attaching a clothespin to your nose, consider this.

Science has shown that humans seem to have an evolutionary predisposition to odors, and the reason many of us are turned on to scents is that we have been hard-wired to respond to body odors from certain parts of the body - armpits, genitals/asses, feet, because these parts of the body contain apocrine sweat glands -- the glands regarded as pheromone-producing scent glands.

Pheromones are synthesized in the apocrine glands at least partially by peroxisomes- small organelles that serve two distinct purposes; to break down toxic substances like hydrogen peroxide and other metabolites, and to aid in the production of these chemical messengers that drive us wild in bed.

Pheromones contain "messages" about the gender, fertility, health, aggression levels of the sender. Animals like dogs sniff each other's asses to find out whether they are in heat, whether they are friend or foe, whether they are relatives, etc. As humans we have lost a conscious awareness of our "reading" of these messages. However, research has demonstrated that these pheromones do cause an unconscious (primitive sexual) response.

Some believe it is because of guilt over past sexual behavior, or because they believe that God through the scriptures has deemed that this is the role of a husband.

Comment: Poor self images? Having been a spanker for many years, this is a woefully inaccurate generalization. Indeed many of the women I have spanked have been bright, focused, energetic, lovely women who may be just seeking the care and 'down time' a 'proper' spanking can provide. Comment: I would not argue domestic violence is a problem in the US, what I fail to grasp is how these statistics relate to consensual spanking? Even if the authors cannot conceive the idea of domestic discipline within the context of a healthy relationship and recklessly label it all domestic violence- these same statistics do not lend support to the ever increasing popularity of F/F or F/M spanking relationships (isn't this abuse also?). Bottom line, there is a world of difference between healthy Domestic Discipline and Domestic Violence- chiefly that one is consensual, and the other isn’t. That’s a rather important distinction to leave out.

Such abuse is also devastating to their children who often feel helplessness and blame along with increased anxieties, more aggressiveness, and behavioral problems.

When there is an attack on a person's self esteem or physical body, or when one partner becomes dominant in the relationship, the marriage is at risk for divorce.

Comment: Marriages are at risk for divorce for any multitude of reasons- not the least bit associated with consensual spanking. When attempting to make a case for the ill found thought that domestic discipline leads to domestic violence / divorce in an otherwise healthy and consensual relationship, statistics would be helpful.

Using words like punishment when relating to a spouse sets a couple up to become "feet and a doormat."

The wife turns into a doormat which is only good for wiping feet on. These marriages are doomed to have relationship problems. Some day she will have had enough.

Comment: Nonsense! Educated, loving couples who may wish to incorporate spanking in their relationship should discuss and be vocal about their intent / limitations / expectations. Surely a case could be made for the doormat / feet scenario if the relationship is otherwise unhealthy and prone to violence to begin with (a point the author seems to purposefully avoid). Like any long term involvement it comes down to knowing / understanding your mate.

Seek Counseling

If you are in a domestic discipline marriage please seek counseling so that you can make an informed, rational decision about your marriage relationship.

Comment: Unfortunately, this article does nothing to understand the complexity of human sexual relationships and merely re-assigns it to the problem relationship bin. Here is Western Medicines' great failing- in that individuality is not an organic disease nor does it need to be treated with dangerous chemicals. If you’re serious about considering domestic discipline in a relationship, talk with your partner, research ‘non-biased’ sources and support groups where healthy couples can / do engage in loving discipline. If you choose to discuss it with a counselor choose one that has no pre-conceived or false notions about domestic discipline. If your partner is a considerate lover, who cares about you and your needs, it is unlikely they would ostracize you for a bit of tushy warming, nor misconstrue it to mean you want to be treated poorly. Most of all, express yourself honestly, and use common sense.

What "Over the Knee" means to me....
